I'm pretty sure that "Pee-Wee's PlayHouse" had been off the air for a year or two by the time his "Porn Theater" incident occur. He had not done the Pee Wee Herman character for a year or two when he got caught "with His Pants down".

Pee Wee's Playhouse was going to go off CBS Saturday Mornings that fall anyway before that big mis adventure, but they pulled them off about a month early. Toys R Us pulled the leftover PeeWee toys from the bargain bins and Disney removed him a ride video. The syndication value of the show probably died that night. He was treated like a murderer.
