Clear Channel brings the Evolution dance brand to Miami! And New York????

It looks like CC believes in this EDM format and is committed to rolling it out in markets on translators/HD2 signals/& rimshot stations. That's great news. And New York would certainly be a targeted market for Evolution, but I don't see anyplace other than an HD2 signal for it to go. There really aren't any viable translators in the city (and after the 106.3 debacle, looks like there may not be). And I can't see CC replacing any of its full signal station's formats with Evolution. But it sure would be great to have it on in NYC. There are a handful of markets where Evolution could work, and I think CC will target them. (Besides Boston and Miami, I'm guessing San Francisco, Chicago, Las Vegas, New York, and any of the large TX cities like Dallas, Houston, Austin, & San Antonio. I could also see Philly, DC, & Orlando as target markets). I'm just glad to see CC really showing commitment to this.

xCountry hates dance...big deal. He's like the Glen Beck of right wing radio.

As far as Evolution 93.5 in Miami turning dance,it was bound to happen. Not to mention the perfect marketing around Ultra and WMC (both prime dance events in Miami).

WFAS 103.9 is definitely a candidate for dance or alternative, but it's owned by Cumulus, not CC, so I don't know how Evolution would end up there unless CC syndicated it or worked some deal out.

Last month CC started broadcasting Evolution on the HD2 of KIIS FM in Los Angeles, one of their most popular stations.
In New York, WWPR 105.1 is not currently using their HD2. Perhaps it will carry Evolution.

Can you name one HD2 pure play that has shown up in the ratings, anywhere?

Miami has a translator for the HD2 (which only covers 12% of the market population with it's 65 dbu signal), but other markets suggested in this thread don't.

I was just going to say. And I can't get to the WMC/Miami Music Week this year!!! :'(

But that comment on the "Glenn Beck" of right wing radio...too funny! But yeah, "X" is a hater yet you don't see ANY OF US bash on alternative or any music genre for that matter.

I know in radio "never say never", but even when they move their signal into The Bronx, for where I think the signal is going WFAS still seems prime for a format geared towards the suburbs. And dare I say for "X", it could favor him possibly?

I don't know Tony, where WFAS will wind up, it's still more of an urban signal than suburban.

I would put dance on 103.9 way before I put rock on it.

While this is a free internet forum, Cumulus is not touching Dance, you can forget 103.9, that's just not how they operate...just reality.

I could very easily (and likely) see CC replacing Pride Radio WKTU-HD2 with Evolution though.

I've been some what of a basher of country not so much about the format persay but more that it doesn't fit in this market and frequencies would be better served by more New York centric formats so I'm somewhat guilty but I've always backed it up with reasons why, not just abnoxious posts.

WOW!!! I'm shocked you said that. Pleasantly! :)

But I actually think thataveragejoe may have a point, in regards to how Cumulus operates. Granted, they'll never beat Lite-FM but I think for what it's worth maybe it's just best that the format on WFAS-FM be left alone. If they're not going for dance or alternative, then what else is there. And no, we DO NOT NEED ANOTHER SPANISH STATION.

haha.this is funny from a guy who has Santiago as a last name. However, the market dictates what the markets "needs" ;)

I agree unfortunately. I don't see any available frequencies that CC would want to blow up to put Evolution on and the situation with translators in NYC is dismal . Depending on what happens with WBAI, maybe they'll end up selling although that seems unlikely.
