Clear Channel's much-anticipated annual Christmas firings ritual is on the ropes this Yule season as CC management laments the lack of staff members to fire. In San Diego, it was a lonely firing for newsman Phil Farrar, who - in years past - could have shared this ritual with several other newly-terminated colleagues.
Clear Channel officials have responded by announcing a Spring hiring spree so they can be sure there is someone available for the 2012 Christmas layoffs. A senior CC official in San Antonio said, "This has become such a big part of our holiday celebration and if we could not keep it going for at least another year, well it just wouldn't be Christmas here in San Antone."
