Clear Channel Plans to insert Local all-news 24/7 feeds to Iheartradio

I guess I am just old and traditional! I am not familiar with Iheartradio! But for a guy that doesn't even text, this might not surprise anyone!

It looks like it's going to be a short, repeating loop consisting of news, traffic and weather reports. I don't think KYW will have too much to worry about.

iHeartRadio is Clear Channel's one stop shop for web streaming. It started out as streaming just Clear Channel stations, but now other companies, including Cumulus and Greater Media, are on board.

I can stream Preston & Steve on it on my iPhone.

And they're offering a Pandora type service as well. I've created a couple stations based on band names (Beach Boys, E&TB, Smashing Pumpkins & The Smiths) and they do a comparable job to Pandora.

I tried a Beach Boys station because their streaming station California Surf Radio tends to be all Beach Boys all the time.

I just listened to it twice. It is indeed a loop that takes about 2-3 minutes. It includes stories from both Philly and Wilmington's police blotter (one story from Wilmington about the postal worker who died from being bitten by a German Shepherd in suburban Stanton) and the rest were police blotter stuff from Philly for the first minute, then the second minute was the Philly weather, then the third minute was Philly traffic which did not include Wilmington traffic. Then it started again with the same stuff. So this won't be any competition to Philly's KYW or Wilmington's WDEL or WILM.

Clear Channel wants to compete against Tunein.com for audio streaming.

Maybe its just a ploy for CC to prevent Cumulus and CBS from entering other cities. I do know Merlin News in New York and Chicago was off the air for 2 months. Or another ploy for what if Fox News does not want to renew with CC or Rush Leaves CC?

Rush is under contract with CC through 2015.
