CLEAR CHANNEL SHOULD SERIOUS CONSIDER AM 1680 OR 95.3 FOR WDAS AM TRANSLATOR

Clear Channel should seriously consider adding a translator or repeater for WDAS AM 1480. Why not simulcast WDAS AM 1480 on either AM 1690, AM 1700, OR ON 95.3 FM. One of these frequencies would be perfect for WDAS AM. If it's on AM 1690 OR AM 1700, then Clear Channel would have to do heavy advertising so the listeners would know their is translator there for WDAS AM. But 95.3 would be an excellent choice also for a translator or WDAS AM. We do need a translator-repeater so that this station can finally be heard in Northeast Philadelphia at night. It is not fair to the listeners of Northeast Philadelphia that they have to be cut off of not being able to listen to this station after sundown. Clear Channel should seriously consider submitting an application to the FCC applying for a translator-repeater for WDAS AM 1480.

One more thing; simulcasting WDAS AM ON 106.1-2 is fine, but right now HD radios are not widely available. The only manufacturer making portable HD radios you can take with you is Insignia, which is only sold at Best Buy stores.

They can only file for a translator during a "filing window". When that will happen next is anyone's guess. (but it's probably measured in *years*)

It looks as if the FCC is closing the door on long-distance translator moves. You used to be able to buy an existing translator somewhere outside Philadelphia and move it into Philly through a series of "minor changes", which don't require waiting for a filing window. It looks as if that is no longer the case.

An AM translator will NEVER happen so can that idea. WDAS AM should shut off the 5khz audio filter and transmit audio up to the NRSC limit of 9.5khz and they'd sound fantastic! The HD/IBOC would be gone too but who even listens to that.

1480 is a no-go in Chester County for some reason. I take 202 frequently and don't get 1480 once you go south of Norristown.

The reason WDAS is a no-go on Rt.202 is that the area is probably in the null of both directional patterns. Very deep nulls to the NE and NW to protect 1470 in Allentown, 1480's in NYC and Ohio, and 1490 in Levittown. Tthe 5 kW day signal goes SSW, and the 1 kW night signal, SSE.

Um, there's another translator at 95.3 translating WBCZ Z88.9... would that interphere?
Dave, better yet put it in AM stereo.
Haven't heard english music in AM Stereo in a while.
