Clear Channel to Flip WJDX 620 From Sports to Talk-WZRX 1590 Going Dark in 2012

Wasn't there another discussion on this site that someone, having taken leave of his/her senses, had gotten a CP for a 5 tower facility on 1440 in Jackson? The CP holder could probably get the 1590 facility for a fraction of what it would take to build that other monstrosity.

Doug and Jay on Mississippi Sports This Morning announced that their show is moving to 6-9a. They did not say, however, if the show is staying on 620 or moving to another frequency, or even be a part of this supposed new format of 620. I'm beginning to think that this won't happen.

Looks like they may do a mix on 620. I heard a Jim Rome promo saying he was moving to 1590. However... MSTM may stay on 620 from 6-9a since that wouldn't conflict with Glen Beck.

Could 1590 apply to go non-directional at 5k/1k?

Would some of you smart fellows know what stations were or are blocking that from being possible?

5k day - no problem. They have that now. 1k non-D night ain't gonna happen. The rules have gotten even more restrictive since the site was built, so any modifications to the licensed pattern would probably end up being a loss.

1590 fulltime stations in Albany GA, Houston TX, Tuscumbia AL ... all kinds of reasons why non-DA can't happen at night.

I heard Jim's promotion today as well. Actually, MSTM would conflict with Glenn's first hour (he's on 8-11 central). A mix of sports and news-talk may not be a bad idea. WWL does it rather succesfully, despite having an ESPN affiliate for a sister station.

If the lineup does go down as expected, and it appears to be on track, and if I were the local hosts doing a sports show that in addition to stepping on Beck, also has ESPN and had that fm sportstalk station and Bo Bounds dominating with the sportstalk types, I'd be a bit nervous. However, they can take comfort in the fact that Beasley road managers traditionally pick a losing strategy and stick with it. Just run down the list, either end of the street, any station, there's at least one glaring hole in schedule that would benefit from from a little tough love.

I've been hearing Brian Kilmeade promos and Jerry Doyle promos on WJNT indicating they're shuffling programming somewhere. Also Monica Crowley Sat. Afternoons. That's been where you could catch the best of the previous week from Rush and Hannity. Something is happening.

Would you believe that one station operating non-directionally at night would raise the nighttime interference level of 13 existing "Class B" stations in the US alone?

Amazing isn't it? And I'm not even one of those smart ones or play one on TV, but I did actually sleep in a Holiday Inn Express last night!

Very best,
