As the title says, here's why I think the CC (or whatever they are branding themselves these days) are sounding better than they have in years:
1. Coast is not only local from 6 AM - midnight (save Ryan Seacrest), but weekends are now local as well. In addition to the weekday jocks tracking weekend shifts, Coast has actually hired a couple of weekenders (including one that goes by "Jadd," who has been heard on Kiss 108).
2. Coast sounds like a real CHR station. Yes, it has an Adult lean, but Coast's imaging has not been this good in years.
3. 'HJY has hired a new weekender. She identified herself as "Kayla." I didn't recognize the voice.
4. B101 is now locally voicetracked in the afternoons (Bill George).
Sure, there is still a lot that can be done to improve. B101 still relies too much on Premium Choice. I'd love to see 'HJY go back to local nights. And nearly all of Coast's local shifts are voicetracked. But still, since Rob Anthony came aboard, CC's Providence FMs have sounded much, much better.
