CLEARED of rape charges, former KESN Dallas host Michael Irvin may sue to get hi

He made headlines and lost his job as a sports talk show host when Florida authorities investigated him on charges of rape from an incident in 2007. Now, cleared of any wrongdoing after a police investigation, former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Michael Irvin may be heading to court, but this time as the plaintiff. Irvin is considering a lawsuit against the woman in question, but is also pondering a lawsuit against KESN-FM (103.3) and parent company ESPN Radio for wrongful termination. It was immediately after the allegations surfaced that Irvin was dropped by KESN, and replaced by Ben & Skin.

Michael should sue the woman, but suit against KESN & ESPN won't fly. They were going to fire him any way. The investigation was just a pretense. I know you guys agree. Most just wanted him off the air.

And to all those who posted saying he should stop doing all these things with women other than his wife, maybe a apology is in order.

What's messed up is he had just renegotiated his contract w/ ESPN and they assured him that his show would not be cancelled. What a bunch of liars Mike should sue their asses off!

I'm not a lawyer, but if KESN never excuted the renegotiated contract then they still could have fired him. Was the exact date of the ending date of the orginial contract. If the law says the verbal agreement is valid then Mr. Irvin may have a case, but Texas is an AT-WILL right to work state. Employers can fire you any valid legal reason.

That's true Salem and it sucks. You could think you are doing a good job at work and out of the blue, you're unemployed.

Don't know the exact end date of his original contract but I read he had signed a new deal in Dec. I just think ESPN handled the whole thing badly by firing him a day after the allegations came out. They could've just suspended him until they knew all the facts.

They had planned to fire him weeks before the story broke. The story just helped push the button. They never said he was fired for the allegation, they fired him because his show sucked, and he was getting beat by the Fan every month.....

If he had a contract, that just means they have to pay him. It doesn't mean they have to put him back on the air.
