CNN: 6 Year Old Boy In Colorado Flying Alone In A Gas Balloon

Oaktree you are right on the money. And what about real law-abiding citizens that may of needed help from Police/Fire/Rescue. But could not get it quick
enough because they were on this wild goose chase? Those poor kids have lousy parents, who don't know the difference between right & wrong. I hope they have other relatives, that have better sense. And can seperate reality from fantasy. And I don't mean reality as in "reality tv shows". Ugh!

No Christmas for that family, I hope. Maybe a huge bill from taxpayers that will bankrupt these people.

Not even a lump of coal or even a mere "spirit of Christmas" for this family. I even hope their jackets and blankets get stolen. For this holiday season, they shalt (not "shall") get absolutely nothing. No donations, no help, no shelter, nothing.

And let's not forget the people who own the wheat field who just lost 2 years of income as first responders -- doing their job -- had to trash that field to find absolutely nothing.

I hope they landowners get dibs at the first bill sent to those morons.

I also hope the idiots get Chapter 7 bankruptcy and everything they own, all the way down to their underwear, confiscated.

And as for the news channels -- it is Sunday, and they're still treating this as "breaking news". Normally, I don't watch the news channels, but while working out at the local gym, I was a "captive" viewer. Many papers no longer gave it front page treatment (some never did), while Fox News and CNN still give it the same treatment as Michael Jackson's death. There are other, more-important news -- can't they give this oversized Jiffy Pop travesty a rest?

This discussion is revealing the mean-spirited side of folks. I'm not enjoying the humor found in the news or the constant reports.

I think you have it backwards. What IS mean-spirited is putting emergency rescue workers in life threatening situations trying to rescue a six year old boy who was part of a plot by attention-seeking parents.

Not to mention the lesson they're teaching their children by involving them in this scam.

Mean-spirited? How, exactly, is it mean to be critical of such a stunt?

There have, not surprisingly, been a few parodies on Youtube, such as this one:

I wouldn't call that a "parody," more like a music video - or, not so far fetched, a TV commercial for the next Heene reality TV show.

By the way, if the 5th Dimension's music is part of the Warner/WMG music library, that video's going to be a goner.

I think they should have to pay for all of the emergency services and for the delays at Denver Airport and CPS needs to take action on them as well. They are f****n idiots trying to get more plublicity after there deal with Wife Swap and thier storm chasing thing.

I totally agree but at the same time it wouldn't surprise me at all if the city of Fort Collins, CO is sitting back and enjoying all the attention in their own right.

Last weekend I was at a party in Lakewood, CO and while there I had a very long conversation with an employee from Denver's KDVR FOX 31. From what he was telling me Fort Collins is a town who has tried and tried and tried to get into the movies and on TV over the years. Last year for example Fort Collins contacted both Eddie Murphy and Nickelodeon about doing some filming for the movie "Imagine That" in Fort Collins. Nick & Eddie stayed in Denver. Fort Collins also tried to get that dark-mall comedy "Observe & Report" to be filmed at their local Foothills Mall. They lost that to some other mall in another state, I believe New Mexico.

Fort Collins about five years ago even contacted Matt Groening about having The Simpsons visiting..you guessed it..FORT COLLINS !! To date that hasn't happened.

Of course there is no connection between the two but it is ironic that a family whose parents were obsessed with being famous just happens to live in a city that is more/less just as obsessed with being famous too.

The Parents did it for a show I believe that the parents stuffed falcon in the attic. All I say is stop watching Cable news its damn strange go back to watching PBS for real news. If the Heene balloon stunt was in NYC or Washington the parents would have been investigated for terrorism scares and every body in NY and DC would run out of buildings assuming that they were being attacked again 9 years after 9/11.
