In an ongoing retreat away from actually covering NEWS, the nation's cable "news" networks have strayed further and further from hard reporting, and instead dwell in the world of opinion.
In an effort to boost sagging ratings, Headline News has hired conservative talk show host Glenn Beck to host a one hour show on the channel. Curiously, although Headline News execs told TV Newser they would be building on the ratings momentum of Nancy Grace, the network said it did not yet have a time slot in mind for Beck's new program.
Beck currently hosts a national conservative radio talk show on 200 radio stations.
“Having tired of the predictable left-versus-right debates in cable news, I am eager to offer a different take for Headline News viewers,” Beck said. “I hope that people will come away from our show not only informed, but also entertained, in a way they’re not used to seeing on cable news.”
