CNN:People Changing Their Lives Due to WFME/Family Radio Prophecy

CNN online has a lengthy article, and a video concerning people that have ditched their former lifestyles due to the prophecy on Family Radio, heard locally on WFME, that the world will end on May 21. Some of these folks are now spending their days traveling the country to notify others.
A dramatic example of the influence that radio still wields, despite a plethora of competing technology.

They may not want to address the question, but what will they say when we wake up on May 22 and the world is still very much alive. Better still, what will Harold Camping have to say on that day?

Because of May 21, I'm changing my life in the following way. I'm running in a half-marathon that day, and I haven't really started training seriously yet. I'd like to turn in a good time that day, so it's time to step it up.
 
No doubt, that this world coming to an end will happen, but nowhere in the bible states WHEN it will happen. Imagine if we can know what is going to happen in the future. We'd be pretty prepared for any disaster that is heading for us now would we ;)
 
How many times a day does Family Radio ask for donations from the flock? Is this radio prophecy just a ruse to bring in more donations? Isn't that committing fraud on a gullible public? Why no outrage by the law enforcement community? Dr. Gene Scott lost some very valuable radio and TV properties when he refused to open his books. Has the time come to audit Family Radio's books too? Where does the money raised really go? I wonder! How about you? Sure maybe Harold Camping really believes he has found the date that this world will end but why should we?
 
We are still concerned about another prophecy from just over forty years ago, will someone please remind me who said:
"1010 WINS will be back with more music after the news".
 
I don't think this is a reason to brag about radio's influence rather than people' stupidity.

The bible nor the Mayans or any other popular doomsday theory that's out there says the world will come to an end. What they do state is that it will be the dawn of a new age.
 
What I don't understand is why bother to donate if the station only has 2 months and a bit to go?? Screw it, don't pay the bills if you really believe the bull that you're transmitting. What difference will it make? By the time it goes to court Mr. Camping and crew should have had their Kool Aid by then...
 
Is Glenn Beck going to be a participant in the Family Radio Prophecy event? He has been talking about the events in Japan being part of the End Times event.

What is the old joke they tell in church circles. The Pope is meeting with the Cardinals in the Vatican. An aide enters the room and says, Your Highness, you have a phone call. Not now. I'll take it later. Sir, YOU WANT TO TAKE THIS CALL. So with a certain amount of disgust on his face he takes the call. There his not much from the Pope, Yes, yes, ok. yes.

And he hangs up and says: I have good needs and I have bad news.

The Good News is: that was the Lord. He has returned to earth.

Your Highness, What is the bad news?

He called from Salt Lake City.

If any one has ever listened to Camping (his racket....er network owns WCTF a local station in the Hartford market), May 21st can't come fast enough. He could Sominex out of business with his voice.

Tears fill the eyes as we reminisce about this station from a bygone era, ancient history for many of us.
 
I remember a book from college called "When Prophecy Fails", case studies of several 19th century religious movements which predicted the end of the world, and how the followers reacted when it didn't. There was actually an increase in faith after the prophecy failed, the followers felt alienated from the rest of the community and took comfort among other followers, the leaders usually said they had made a minor mistake and announced a new date, and most everyone bought that, too. Gradually the followers drifted away. I keep wondering if this nonsense happens only in America, or if it goes on elsewhere too. I guess it went on in Europe during the aptly named Dark Ages.

Hey, now... I believe Bob Raissman owns that trademark in this market with respect (?) to Richard Neer, or as Bob dubs him, "Sir Sominex". ::)
