CNN refuses to comment on story that other news organizations retracted

https://www.washingtonpost.com/life....html?dg&noredirect=on&utm_term=.f4a9a19660f4

This is about CNN's “bombshell” Michael Cohen story about Trump knowing about Russian meetings that was run heavily for days. Basically, Cohen was a source to the story when CNN said Cohen refused to talk to them. He latter admitted on air on CNN he was a source, and that he doesn't have any information that Trump knew about any such meetings.

Neither CNN large media reporting team or CNN's PR people have commented on the discrepancies except to say they stand by their reporting (CNN's media reporters have been blocking other reporters on twitter that have question them about this)

Lanny Davis will appear on Fox News Media Buzz Sunday morning. Perhaps he'll explain why he lied to CNN.

My expectation is he'll blame CNN. It's all one big soap opera.

The source wasn't Cohen, but his spokesperson Lanny Davis. He has apparently told different people different stories. They're sticking by it because it's a named source, not unnamed. So you either believe Lanny or you don't. Most people at this point don't.

Here's how CNN is reporting it, and they're pretty direct about it:

You are correct the source is Cohen's lawyer Lanny Davis. What CNN hasn't explained is how Lanny Davis was presented as someone who declined to comment on the story while serving as one of CNN sources to the same story which he is now claiming, obviously the story was misleading to CNN's viewers. The Wash. Post, CBS, and NY Post all felt the need to correct/retracted because Lanny Davis lacks credibility.

It would be interesting to which reporter Davis was talking to, Carl Bernstein, Post's Watergate reporter or Jim Sciutto a former Obama appointee..

Usually reporters wouldn't use someone as a source if they are known to lie.

The problem in this case was Lanny was a new source, so there was no track record. Now there is, which is why I'm surprised Fox has booked him on Media Buzz.

Previously credible people are losing their credibility as this story progresses. That makes it hard to cover.
