Comcast Has "Fox Movie Channel" In Their Digital Sports Package!

I can't figure out why Comcast/Xfinity only offers the "Fox Movie Channel" in its Digital Sports Package and not in its Digital Preferred Package that has other movie channels like TCM, IFC, Sundance Channel and the Encore movie channels. In fact every channel in the Sports Package is Sports or Sports related except for the Fox Movie Channel. They need to move "ESPN News" (currently in Digital Preferred) to the Sports package and the "Fox Movie Channel" to Digital Preferred. Just My Two Cents!

When I used to be a Cablevision subscriber, Fox Movie Channel was offered among the basic channels.

Maybe they put FMC there intentionally to get more people to subscribe to the sports package and have to pay more. Although I don't know how popular FMC really is. I've gotten it as part of basic on Fios for years and I've never watched it.

FMC shows really old movies (1930-1950s) - perhaps like AMC 15 years ago. I think with limited or no commercials. I think it's so that the customers that want it, would just pay more, and Fox doesn't really care that it's distributed to the most HHs possible. Disney, on the other hand, pushes for the ESPN channels to be in more available packages.

Fios has added GMC (Gospel Music Channel) into one of its newer higher priced HD tiers, and made it unavailable in the Extreme HD. I just wanted GMC for the classic TV shows it airs, but no luck, unless I lose my package from Fios and upgrade to a much higher priced package.

Old news, they've been doing this for a few years now. And yes, it is absurd. Totally absurd.

No, that's NOT quite accurate. Their focus is much broader than that - most of the movies that they show during primetime seem to be from between 1970 and 2000. Yes, they do show some films from the 1940s and 1950s - but those are generally during the morning/early afternoon hours. Later in the day, they show much more contemporary fare - I've seen such films as Only The Lonely, Revenge of the Nerds, Down Periscope, and others from the 80s and 90s prominently featured.

if you've ever spoken with a Comcast employee in an attempt to straighten out your bill,
you would understand...
