Comcast SportsNet RSN's To Be Rebranded As "NBC Sports"

Regarding RSN's are the rest of the FOX Sports _____ place city here all fully owned by FOX Sports? Just seeing if Comcast had a percentage in any still.

The ones that are still branded as Fox Sports Net are all 100% News Corp, Comcast renamed all theirs (and dropped a large chunk of FSN programming for those that had the affiliation) and Directv/Liberty renamed all theirs to Root Sports.

I think Tribune is gonna need to find a new sponsor for their Weekend "Sports Ticket" Show on FOX Connecticut. Currently it's "The Comcast Sports desk" powered by Xfininity. Something tells me a FOX affiliate wouldn't be too happy with "The NBC Comcast Sports desk".
Umm Dude.....I would think Connecticut would get CSN New England (Formerly FSN New England) on cable.....

But then again, I could be wrong.....

Cheers :D

If it went that way then yes, but you can cover up the NBC connection if it's just referred to as "Xfinity". Comcast buys advertising on NESN for Xfininity even though the main competition is Comcast SportsNet.
That's the cable company side of things. Beyond the obvious control & ownership, one doesn't have anything to do with the other.

This is the one I'm still trying to wrap my head around.

Just recently, FSN Rocky Mountain (Along with FSN Northwest & FSN Pittsburgh) were rebranded to ROOT Sports. As a result, they dropped all Fox Sports theme music (Not much of a surprise I suppose) YET they kept THE OLD Fox Sports graphics.

And why aren't SportSouth, Prime Ticket & Sun Sports under the ROOT Sports name?

That's what I don't get.

This one's a stumper.....

Cheers :D

That's because Fox owns SportSouth and Prime Ticket outright, and owns a majority stake in Sun Sports (with Comcast owning the rest; Sun and Fox Sports Florida operate as sister networks).

I thought FOX owned Sun Sports fully, as on Wikipedia it doesn't say anything about Comcast on the Sun Sports page on Wikipedia. But I know that site isn't fully 100%

Well given this & the posts about Texas elsewhere in this thread, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if Comcast decided to dump the joke of a network called CET here in Denver (And wherever else its at) & replace it with an NBC Sports channel.

Only problem is unless Altitude were to give up some of the teams it provides little to no coverage of to a newly created NBC Sports channel (I can just see Stan Kronecke doing that with his teams - NOT) or align itself with NBC Sports rather than ESPN, NBC Sports would have a difficult time surviving here in Denver with local high school alone (Which is the only thing CET actually produces. Anything else is/was imported from Altitude 2)

Cheers :D

Same here. Used to be Fox Sports Bay Area, then Comcast Sports Bay Area now a possible third name as NBC Sports Bay Area. Almost like the renaming of AT&T Park. First it was Pacific Bell Park, then SBC Park and currently AT&T Park.

Look at KNTV airing Giants games produced by Comcast Sports that is a good fit for them. Comcast being renamed as NBC Sports Net bay Area.

And if Altitude were smart, the'd take Altitude 2 (Which they curently use & is on the air during scheduling conflicts with the regular channel only), affiliate that with NBC Sports like they affiliated the regular channel with ESPN Plus, stick the Avs on Altitude 2 (Since NBC has the national NHL rights anyway) & fill in the rest of the time with other programming from NBC Sports & what they normally air on the regular channel (Just not at the same time though)

Above all - STICK THE NEW ALTITUDE 2 ON COMCAST CHANNEL 105 & REPLACE CET since CET is really more like XITV (Xfinity Infomercial TV), which NO ONE in Denver watches anyway & is a waste of a channel IMO

Altitude wouldn't even need to change the name (Unless they wanted to of course). It would basically be the same as what MSG Network does with FSN programming in the NYC area

Thoughts?

Cheers :D

Sun Sports carries like Magic and Heat. Comcast can give Orlando it's own 24/7 Sports and News Channels because it's not allowed to have CFNEWS13 and BHN Sports Network.
