Composer of "You Light Up My Life" commits suicide in NYC

Joseph Brooks, 73, who won an Academy Award in 1978, committed suicide in his New York City apartment today.

His "You Light Up My Life" won an Oscar for "Best New Song of the Year" in 1978.

Brooks was awaiting trail for eleven counts of rape and sexual assault. He was charged in 2009.

His son is jailed in New York for the murder of his girlfriend.

I was wondering why I heard ABC News play a snippet of that song the other day during one of their TOH radio newscasts. Given that it was in the first segment of the newscast, I thought that Boone herself had died.

The guy never should have been allowed out of jail with all the rape and sexual assault charges against him and the number of women involved.

In his suicide note, he whines and complains, yet never mentions his son who is in a NYC jail awaiting trial for killing his girlfriend.

He was charged in 2009. Now he kills himself which proves that justice delayed is justice denied.

I always thought the song was creepy from day one.

That particular tempo is very troublesome for me, and then with everything else....now this...
