Comprehensive List Of Stations Still Airing the Soft AC/Easy Listening Format?

Great liner heard on KJZY....

"From the greatest generation to Gen Z, everybody loves the Great American Songbook".
Maybe a tad hyperbolic, but I like it.

And, for what it's worth, maybe it's working: KJZY showed up in the ratings with a 0.1 share back in October or November, and it has been fairly stable as of December (we'll see what happens when the January ratings come out).

I'd love to listen to it OTA, but I'd need a better antenna because I'm in a fringe area and the signal doesn't come in too well. Just haven't had the time/money/energy to get one set up.

There is no more Music of Your Life on KCJK-HD2 in Kansas City. KCJK-FM’s HD1 and HD2 signals have been turned off sometime in the last few weeks. I found out earlier when I went to listen to the HD2. @dxsphere Hope you can update your HD Radio Directory site with this info.

Another Music Of Your Life affiliate loss occurred at the beginning of the year:

WIOI Portsmouth OH was a 24/7 affiliate of MOYL, now they are running Scott Shannon's True Oldies.

I do believe there are no more full time MOYL affiliates. All I can find are the Multicultural Broadcasting stations that air MOYL as filler (overnights, weekends etc.).

And with Scott being essentially the "last man standing" in that format after Westwood One's cancellation of their Oldies feed, who knows how many years that has left.

We are rapidly approaching the point where only locally programmed Oldies stations, like @Buddy Shula's WECK, will survive.

WKNE-FM in Keene, NH, runs something called "Pure Oldies" on its HD3. Is this another nationally syndicated feed?

There are two that are offered from Local Radio Networks:

Super Hits

60s, 70s and more: The Beatles, Elton John, The Rolling Stones, CCR, The Bee Gees, Stevie Wonder

Target: A 35-70 (Core: A 45-64)

Scott Shannon's True Oldies Channel

The greatest Rock & Roll music ever recorded, with a spotlight on the greatest hits from the 60’s and 70’s, plus a few tossed in from the 80’s.

Target: A 35-70 (Core: A 45-64)

A number of iHeart stations air their "Real Oldies" format.

"Pure Oldies" is a common branding for locally-programmed Oldies stations.

A quick Google search turned up stations using that in Ithaca NY, Brookfield (Milwaukee) WI, Savannah GA, and Northampton MA. A couple of those are owned by Saga.

Just to clarify, because it could be confusing coming right after the USRN formats: Real Oldies is one of iHeart's proprietary in-house formats and not available for syndication to other stations outside of their ownership.

Do you know if Saga owns the rights to the branding, and then allows others to license it?

As near as I can tell, they use the same logo at all of their stations running the format, but other than the standard copyright notice in the footer of the stations' websites, I see no mention of it being trademarked.

My fellow Easy Listening fans,

It was announced this morning that WEMP will come to an end on 2/1. They had a very unique one of a kind Easy Listening format that included B/EZ, Standards, Soft AC, and the occasional Smooth Jazz.

Since a station like this will never come around again...I would suggest recording as much as possible this week, I know I am.

I will also be recording WEMP a bunch this weekend and into early next week.

HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend this as a substitute for WEMP-98.9. KMGK-107.1 Glenwood MN. Very similar format, with occasional smooth jazz cuts and even some TV theme songs. Often has high school sports, lots of news updates during the day, Saturday morning Value Plus Shopping and Gunsmoke, also old-time radio weeknights 10-midnight CT. I listen to them often and have taped countless hours of aircheck from them.
They probably have a bigger playlist than WEMP. Approximately 2000 songs

That's just a Friday segment. "The Voice" with Randy Olsen, airs Friday mornings. Sometimes their schedule changes and shows go long...the extreme cold warning doesn't help.
A noon information hour (CT) airs weekdays. Even includes local obituaries.

It's definitely a Saga branding, but I'm not sure if they own the trademark "Pure Oldies". The logo is standard across their oldies stations.

Music is centered around the 60s, with 50s and 70s thrown in. They go pretty deep, with a lot of obscure and minor hits, like MeTV Radio does. They also play a lot of vintage commercials going into ad breaks. I live within earshot of the Milwaukee one (WRXS). Adding to the list, they have PO stations in Des Moines, Hilton Head, SC, Keene, NH, Portland, ME, Spencer, IA, and a few other markets. It's a pretty creative approach, though I don't think they do much in the way of live jocks (WRXS uses voice tracks by jocks from their sister hard rock station station, 102.9 The Hog).

That's too bad.

Is it going dark, or is it going to be flipping to a different format?
