Connoisseur Media acquires Bonneville’s San Francisco Cluster

WOW! I wonder why Bonneville is exiting San Francisco?

Here's the company's explanation:

Bonneville said the sale aligns with its focus on investing in high-growth opportunities across radio, television, streaming, and digital.

So they may use the money in a market that gives them that combination of platforms. San Francisco isn't the growth market it once was.

Keep in mind that at one time Bonneville owned stations in NY, LA, CHI, Dallas, Houston, DC, as well as many more. They were once a much bigger company.

In 2011, they sold a big group to Hubbard. They've been downsizing for
Definitely a money making move from Bonneville and we will see what will Connoisseur Media do with their Bay Area radio cluster...

Those stations, aside from KOIT, always seemed to be an odd fit for Bonneville.

I don't think that KUFX was an odd fit for Bonneville, either. Remember that in the company's home market, Salt Lake City, it owns and runs a classic rock powerhouse with the callsign of KRSP. That said, I agree with you about the other two.

KOIT is a perennial #3, except in December when they're wall-to-wall Christmas music and eat everyone's lunch. Since they're never going to seriously challenge either KQED or KCBS, they've done the best they can with their "format 42" AC music format. KMVQ too. Really the only station in the cluster that's a mismatch is KBLX. I could never figure out why a company owned by LDS would want that particular station/format. It just seems like they've picked a foreign language they can't speak.
