Conservative Talk Radio on the Wane in California (Los Angeles Times Hit Piece)

If they move talk and news to FM, which seems more & more likely over time, what do you think will happen to AM? It can't be all infomercials all the time can it?

Ooh! Ooh! Let's make a really big ham radio band. Call it the "300-meter band".... :D

Seriously....with all the foreign languages spoken in So. Cal....each language (other than Spanish, which will have
moved to FM along with English) could have its own station. Or two.....

I like the other idea better--make it into another ham band. At least it will be used for something worthwhile :D

Talk radio is starting to slip, give it another few years and it will be as popular as TV westerns, they were once big, now there ain't any new ones on the tube. Amos and Andy was the most popular radio show once too. 1/3 of all Americans would listen.

(also average foreclosure is a first time or second time move-up home, not a "poor person's house"- that is the talk radio misinformation that the whole economic crisis was because of Acorn and the CRA- I listen to PHD noble prize winner economist like Krugman over a painting/wallboard contractor.)

Where do you get your consistently inaccurate data? News/talk as a format is growing, particularly under PPM measurement. A recent (as in "this month") Coleman Insights study shows that the PPM system shows much more listening to talk than perviously measured, and talk stations are up in nearly every market.

Talk radio is slipping in popularity????

Since when????

According to Lon Helton of Country Aircheck, N/T edged past country to become the most-listened to format in America.

Some case of slipping, huh?

I think some people assume that because AM is suffering that talk radio is dying. They don't take into consideration that FM talk is up.

Since the most recent ratings (this past week) show that talkradio is up, please post your supporting evidence. I, for one, have already posted plenty of evidence in this thread to destroy your fantasy.
