I just perused the "AM HD Club" [above] to tally its latest number of members and was FLOORED to find that 720 KOTZ Kotzebue, Alaska has joined the AM HD "brotherhood"
For those in the mood for a geography lesson, Kotzebue is a town of about 3000, overwhelmingly made up of Inupiat natives, 33-miles north of the Arctic Circle. It has long-fascinated me... As has KOTZ since I began "enjoying" its live audio stream online in late 2007. You have to listen to this station to fully-appreciate the head-scratching you'll be giving yourself over WHY a desolate 10kw station sitting atop the tundra would be interested in the [in]capabilities of iBiquity's AM science fair project [especially, since they don't carry the "Coast To Coast AM" program]
Shazaam! ...I think I have it figured out! Given the extraordinary hearing capabilities of the common Caribou herd, I'll bet KOTZ decided to crank out all that offensive buzz 'n hash to keep the curious animals away from their elevated AM ground system.
FINALLY – a reasonable application for AM IBOC ;D
