Cool airchecks of houston's past via youtube

Wow I'm really digging The Jam. Wish that was around in Houston. I'm sure we can do with one less regional mexican station bleh! A format like this IS viable to the hispanic audience, not just mexican music.

I had been looking for airchecks for stations that haven't been heard from in a while, and found this. Glad everyone's diggin these. A slightly updated version of The Jam WOULD work here. It didn't go away because of how it did ratings wise, I believe Liberman flipped it because it was an English speaking radio station. This on 106.9 would be wonderful. And as sdh483 says, this was done on 106.7 at the time in San Antonio, and that of course is a Cox station, so it's doable.

Thanks for posting these airchecks up.

By any chance, do you have any airchecks from the Y-98.5 days before they went smooth jazz?

Could not find any, but would be cool to hear. Mr. Tiller reads the boards and worked there maybe he has something. Also if you by chance read this post Mr. Tiller, can u also come up with some older airchecks, like from KENR and country fresh KNUZ? Thanks in advance, we would like to hear them.

If those old cassettes of KNUZ survived the ravages of time, the answer is yes. I do have some. Most of these are airchecks of me. I do have some of others at KNUZ. I have a few from KENR as well. While I was at KNUZ during that time, Howard Reynolds was on KENR in the same time period. He may have some airchecks from the Big 1070.
I do have airchecks of Smooth FM 98.5 and 103.3 when I was Charles Calloway. It was the shortest ride to work I've ever had in this business. Travel time was no longer than 60 seconds. I would get on the elevator on the 19th floor and leave Chuck Tiller behind at CBS and KILT and descend to the 15th floor to become Charles Calloway on Clear Channel's KHYS. I had a great time there.

Any airchecks of Kiss 98.5 and 103.3? I remember back in those days. I have a old audio clip of oldies 94.5 somewhere I can upload it if anyone is interested.

I have some old composite airchecks of KLDE as Oldies 94.5 and probably some of the early days of 107.5 ... I'll try to post them somewhere and let you know...

I knew we had some great resources for some great airchecks. Chuck and Kevin, we would love to hear whatever can be provided. IMHO, this is the only way to hear real radio now.....

Anybody have any airchecks from not only Y-98.5 before the smooth jazz, but Majic 102.... from the 80's??? ;D

That would be cool. I just wanna hear what 98.5 was like as an urban back then.
