Corsicana's KAND to fall silent at the end of the year.

This is sad and foolish. They should have offered it for sale to another local owner. It is shameful to cease a station with that kind of history.

I actually interviewed for a job there many moons ago when I went to Navarro College and they still had a broadcast program...

The Corsicana Daily Sun article mentioned that there had been no attempt to sell the station. Although it would probably bring a pittance, I would think there is somebody somewhere who would purchase it, if only to run satellite delivered religion or whatever.

I'm sure the strong FM coverage in Corsicana from the Cedar Hill sticks pretty much battered KAND for years.

Yet another nail in the coffin of AM radio.

I find it hard to believe that the station has zero value. I bet someone could take that signal & equipment and make a nice living doing a real, local radio station.

If they let it go dark, what would keep another entity from grabbing the frequency? I think the reason the cable company is letting it go instead of selling it is because they will eliminate any potential competition.

This is too good of a signal to go dark. This would be a great station to pick up. I would give 'em 100K today (if I had 100K) as is.

I hope someone comes in and saves KAND.
