Could Audacy be preparing to close down or sell one of it's NY stations?

If bankruptcy is the ultimate exit plan, loaning money to Audacy would be the preferable route for the Field family. Equity gets wiped out in a bankruptcy, while debt survives. There's also the possibility of a merger, with spinoffs of markets where there would be ownership cap issues. Or maybe Sirius XM? Something gotta give in the next 12-18 months.

Here's what I think they should do

92.3 K-Rock
94.7 1010 WINS
96.7 WFAN
101.9 New Rock WRXP
Knowing Audacy and their quest to appeal to that coveted 100+ demographic, the future might be more like:

92.3 WINS with Reverb and Teletype (we are already half way there with reverb already implemented).
94.7 Radio Soap Operas. (they maybe able to get sponsors for products like Pepsodent and Brylcreem)
101.9 Swing Music Format (interspersed with archived bits Jack Benny, Fred Allen, George Burns and Gracie Allen, Amos and Andy, and Fibber McGee and Molly).

:D j/k

I don't see a merger being possible when you consider that their competitors all have their own debt issues. If there is an acquisition of Audacy, it will come from some sort of outside source. Who? Not a clue.

Audacy has been actively trading its stations around the country in attempts to improve their clusters. They recently traded some stations with Beasley in Las Vegas.
I'm not sure of the thinking regarding the Las Vegas trade, but just based on band and signal, I think Beasley might have been the cluster that benefited.

Audacy owned the land that Beasley's KDWN was on. I assume the trade of the two stations was some way to minimize the impact for both parties, despite leaving Audacy's cluster weaker. Feel free to correct me.

While broadcast radio continues to experience serious financial issues, it is being reported that SiriusXM paid $150,000,000 for the library and branding of comedian Conan O'Brien. They will devote a channel to his comedy, beginning tomorrow.

The deal was described by the Wall Street Journal as "valued at $150 million." So they didn't actually pay that amount. There are incentives that could lead to that amount.

Connan's channel launches on SiriusXM, tomorrow at 7:00am. It's being called Team Coco Radio, and is on channel 106. They are right now looping a few announcements from Connan, stating the date and time. I'm assuming that his proposed HBO Max show never came to fruition.

get the feeling it was quietly canceled by the new management of Warner Brothers Discovery.
