Could you pull off a "FMDouglasville" or "FMAlpharetta" translator scenario?

Could you pull off a "FMDouglasville" or "FMAlpharetta" translator scenario?

The question is if you found a channel for a translator (or even just an AM) in a bedroom community, could you position it as "Radio Alpharetta...A-92.7!" or whatever and sell $7 spots to strip mall merchants who cant afford Atlanta radio? Kind of like small town radio but concentrate the programming solely on that 8-12 miles of 60 DBU.

I guess the fellow in Sandy Springs has been doing this with some success for a while. He's got a very low power AM, so I'm wondering if this could be done with LPFM or a translator.

Ask the old owner of Lake 102 (4200W class A, 390' HAAT). Or, ask CC when they owned WHEL (1700W class A, 614' HAAT) and weren't using it to simul WGST or Viva. Lake 102 is probably the better case since it covered Gwinnett and parts of Hall and Forsyth and Barrow, as opposed to Helen and other mountain towns.
