Country 103.9 WJKR in Columbus Flips to Classic Country 103.9 The Maverick

Country 103.9 WJKR flipped to Classic Country 103.9 The Maverick today at 12pm.

Fortunately it did not impact any staff.

It will be interesting to see this station developed. In recent years, WHOK made an early splash and it's hard to gauge just how significant it would have been long term with it being a transitional operation but good for them for keeping the faith, putting up a fight and working to be relevant.

Classic Country is a very hard sell and getting more difficult by the day.

Building listeners in Columbus with Classic Country should not be much of a challenge, finding Advertisers could be-I hope not.

I'm rooting for them and will definitely be listening every time I am in town.

I can only hope that their playlist is as large as 105.1's was! I streamed The Wolf for years! Thought I recognized your name!

Thank you, Chad! What a compliment. I appreciate that very much.

Our playlist is/was very large. Most programmers hate that large of a playlist, but we were very fortunate to get about 9 years out of the format on FM and about 3 years is the max.

I've worked very hard on that playlist for a long time. Still my favorite music!

We still have The Wolf as a DB and stream on our app and a website. It has local news, weather etc. on it.

It's available at 105.1 The Wolf | WJZM-DB 2

It's also available on the main station app, "105-1 WJZM" in app stores. Then in the bottom right hand corner you can choose from the main channel which is Mainstream Adult Contemporary, Classic Country (The Wolf) and 14JZM which is real oldies and a tribute to our heritage. It, likewise has local news, weather, etc on it.

I hope 103.9 does well! We're rooting for them.

Thank you, again!

Have you heard today's modern country!!? Thank God for classic country stations. The cc stations in Lima and Bucyrus seem to be thriving alright.
