Country music's 'Gentle Giant' Don Williams dies aged 78

Williams, known as "the Gentle Giant" because of his 6-foot, 1-inch frame, mellow voice and low-key profile, had hits with "Tulsa Time," "I Believe in You" and "It Must Be Love," over the course of a 50-year career.

He died on the same day as Troy Gentry, one half of the country music duo Montgomery Gentry, who was killed in a helicopter crash in New Jersey.
 
So sorry to hear that. The man had a fantastic voice.
Along with Gordon Lightfoot one of the iconic male vocalists of the 70's. RIP.
 
WBRF Galax VA was playing three Montgomery Gentry songs in a row when I got in the car yesterday. I didn't know this until the DJ announced the third song, and I had pretty much missed the second one because of so much interference from the local hip-hop station and another station. By the time he played two Don Williams songs ("I Believe in Love" and "Tulsa Time") my interference problems had cleared up. Later in the day another DJ said everyone probably knew by this time and he had a request for Don Williams, so another song was played which I didn't know, but it was good.
