Courant story: News Operations Of TV's Fox 61 And The Courant Are Sharing Space

Looking forward to seeing the new studios, but also disappointed with yet another media consolidation.

OK...the newscast is indeed in HD tonight (December 12, 2009). It looks slightly crisper on WTIC-DT compared to the simulcast on WTXX-DT, which is about a second behind WTIC-DT. the bug in the corner still rotates between "FOX 61" and "FOX-CT". The Connecticut Lottery drawings were still produced in SD. They bragged that all of their local field shoots are produced in HD, which would be a stab at WVIT-DT and their HD newcasts. The end result? Outside of the lottery drawings, I still won't be watching their newscasts.

The nightly drawings are produced at a public access station, per a contract with that station and the lottery commission. Can't remember where, but its in central CT. I assume 61's contract with the lottery commission is just for airing the drawings.

Incorrect. We built a temporary studio for lottery in our old 20 Church street building. Lottery will remain there for another week or two while the new lottery studio at the Courant is being completed.
