Cox Media Group has flipped Spanish Hot AC “Exitos 96.5” WOEX-FM Orlando

I kind of like the sounding/processing of WOEX, the music doesn't sound overly compressed like most other stations do. Another thing is that WOEX has a slight advantage when it comes to distant listener/audience. I listen to both 100.3 HD3 and WOEX commuting from Ocala to Miami. Often I lose 100.3 HD3 way before WOEX fades (because of lower HD power). I can pick up WOEX near Micanopy all the way down to Port St. Lucie which eventually gets overtaken by WPOW 96.5 out of Miami.
Keep in mind that listening outside the metro survey area can’t be monetized by the station. And, since the station apparently does not subscribe. To Nielsen outside of its home market, there is nothing to base sales on.

The stations may not sell advertisements further out of town, but a full power class C FM is going to have an advantage over a translator for building penetration in the core market as well as preferable to people who have longer commutes.

Good point. But the there are times where a full power station at a lower height in a metro does better in some areas than one that "overshoots" no matter how much beam tilt they have.

Long ago, in a top 20 market I had a "B" at 50 kw at a bit over 300 feet but just a few miles from the geographic center of the market. Many competitors were 50 kw also, but at 1000 feet at the southern edge of the market. We consistently beat the next 5 or 6 FMs combined.

(Puerto Rican B's have 50 kw, but different height limits)

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

Here is the Longley-Rice map of K229CL, the translator for KRKE in Albuquerque, which I have the privilege to program:

Pretty good coverage of the populated metro area.
