Cox Media Group looking to change the call signs in Jacksonville

Cox Media Group, is asking The FCC for a waiver to change the callsign of CBS affiliate WTEV, and Fox affiliate WAWS to WFOX, what do you guys think of this? Good idea or bad idea?

There is something missing in this story. Is the waiver to allow two stations to have the same call letters? Doesn't sound right to me.

Does anybody want to deal with Connoisseur and their Connecticut radio stations? That group already helped kill a heritage FM station in Hartford (WDRC-FM). They lost this listener soon afterwards. Besides, couldn't they do it, as long as they say -TV in their legal ID?

No, whoever has the calls first would need to give permission.

You could have WFOX (AM), WFOX-FM, WFOX-TV (and WFOX-LP?) all in different markets with different owners. But the station with "WFOX" first would have to grant permission to the others.
