Craig Silverman of 710 KNUS-AM accuses management for "toe strict Trump party line"

Craig Silverman of 710 KNUS-AM accuses management for "toe strict Trump party line"

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news...adio-host-fired-criticizing-trump-denver-knus

A talk radio host said he was fired from a rightwing radio station – mid-show – for criticizing Donald Trump.

Craig Silverman was hosting his eponymous show on 710 KNUS, a Denver station owned by the conservative Salem Media Group, on Saturday when the station abruptly cut to a network news report.

According to Silverman, the program director entered the studio and told him: “You’re done.”

Silverman had been in the middle of a segment about Roy Cohn, Trump’s controversial former lawyer who died in 1986.

Silverman, a rare critic of Trump on the conservative network, said he had run into problems with executives at the station due to his refusal to “toe strict Trump party line”.

“I was frustrated that we couldn’t talk about the facts of the impeachment case and it all came to a head as I was excoriating Donald Trump on my show yesterday,” Silverman told CNN’s Reliable Sources on Sunday.

OK I would love to know more details to the story though given that Silverman identifies himself as a right wing person getting fired from Salem over certain things about the President though.

Here is Salem Management over the issue.

Officials at the Denver radio station 710 KNUS on Sunday disputed talk show host Craig Silverman’s claim that his weekly show was canceled and that he was removed from the air due to his views on President Donald Trump and the impeachment hearings.

“We never told him what position to take on President Trump,” KNUS general manager and vice president Brian Taylor said at the station Sunday evening.

“I look forward to Craig continuing his program,” Taylor said.

Silverman didn’t commit.

“I’ll have to think about that,” he said late Sunday. He noted that his podcasts were removed from the KNUS site. “If I am not canceled, then post my podcasts right now.”

A Denver attorney who once served as chief deputy district attorney, Silverman has hosted “The Craig Silverman Show” as an independent contractor on the conservative AM radio station 710 KNUS, owned by the Salem Media Group. He was in the middle of a segment Saturday morning discussing Roy Cohn, Trump’s former personal attorney, when the show suddenly was interrupted by network news.

Silverman, a rare critic of Trump on the conservative network,

Salem has had plenty of hosts who were Trump critics. National morning show host Hugh Hewitt
and former afternoon host Michael Medved among them.

Though Medved is gone and Hewitt has really toned it down. Obviously feedback from their listeners
was that this isn't what they wanted to hear.
