CT School Tragedy Bumps New Episodes Of "Family Guy," "American Dad"

Re: CT School Tragedy Bumps New Episodes Of "Family Guy," "American Dad"

Meanwhile, as NBC carried the President's speech, they moved "Sunday Night Football" to both CNBC and NBC Sports Network. So now NBC can say "SNF" actually ran on NBCSN and demand more money for carriage of the network. :p

Re: CT School Tragedy Bumps New Episodes Of "Family Guy," "American Dad"

I hate to sound insensitive, but I'm glad that the reruns aired for whatever reason.

Here's what happened, which I don't understand.

The Panthers WON AGAIN ;D.

A rerun of "The Cleveland Show" appeared to be joined in progress as I fast-forwarded. A new episode of "The Cleveland Show" followed, then a new episode of "The Simpsons". I don't tape "Bob's Burgers", but when I played back "Family Guy" it started 22 minutes late. It took me a while to be certain, but it was a rerun I had seen. I checked the listing for "American Dad" and it too looked familiar. Why, if the game didn't run over, did "Bob's Burgers" run 22 minutes late? What was going on during the 30 minutes I didn't tape?

Just an update, it looks like The Simpsons and Bob's Burgers will likely have a future re-air too. They are running on the main Fox feed, which some stations (mostly likely the ones without news departments) are running, but judging from Twitter, the majority of Fox stations are going with an alternate FNC with Fox logo feed airing the Newtown memorial service instead in primetime.

Also confirmed; Global did opt for the Family Guy rerun fed out from Fox tonight.

ETA - All Fox stations were routed to Newtown coverage at 8:33pm on the main feed, so BB is definitely gone for the night.
Okay, that answers my question. I guess it was the right thing.

About that rerun: The originally scheduled repeat, "Die Semi-Hard," was also scrapped on Sunday.

Will the new episodes that were supposed to air this past Sunday be available online soon for people that want to watch it?

I don't see anything wrong with just airing them later. They repeat Christmas episodes later anyway.

Re: CT School Tragedy Bumps New Episodes Of "Family Guy," "American Dad"

An additional comment: I tape movies on my TiVo because I can't always watch them when they're on. Some could argue I could rent them, but then they'd have all the profanity and sex and violence.

I watched part of "F/X" Sunday night when the shows weren't on. I still haven't had time to finish. But it is kind of violent and the scene at the beginning would be all too upsetting for some in light of what happened. I have to believe stations took a look at what movies they were airing. This would have been one to replace. But it did air the previous week.

Which would be great -- if they did air them. As mentioned earlier, Global showed the same rerun as Fox was showing. And don't count on seeing them before Christmas -- according to Zap2it, only past reruns are scheduled (though Family Guy was TBA as of press). I still think the bumped holiday episodes, because of timing and the possibility that it may still be too soon, will either be held back to the 2013 holiday season, and/or be released direct to DVD in the next set.

I was talking about, The Simpsons, Cleveland Show, and Bob's Burgers, some stations showed more than just Obama's speech

Re: CT School Tragedy Bumps New Episodes Of "Family Guy," "American Dad"

When I tuned into Global on Sunday night at 8:30, they were carrying Obama's speech live from a CBS feed. This was on their Ontario station.

Too bad the new Family Guy will be this Sunday, this means I won't be seeing it because of family commitments. Oh well, I'll see it online soon enough after.

Global had the Survivor finale scheduled at that time, which they planned to carry "live" from CBS. However, as CBS was running Obama's speech, they opted to pick that up. Usually, when Canadian channels run programming straight from the network feed, they also run the American network's breaking news when they interrupt them.

This is especially evident when "The Price is Right" used to air on Global (at least in Ontario) -- when sister specialty channel Prime (now TVTropolis) picked up reruns of TPIR, they used videotaped copies right from CBS's feed, which meant breaking news was seen over and over again. However, such use of interrupted shows were limited to those with brief interruptions -- shows with lengthy interruptions or outright pre-emptions were replaced on Prime with other episodes.

What about "American Dad"?

As mentioned before in the source, the "American Dad" episode will remain held back for the time being -- meaning as late as the next holiday season. The reason being is that episode had significant gunplay.

Re: CT School Tragedy Bumps New Episodes Of "Family Guy," "American Dad"

I am so glad to say that "Family Guy" and "American Dad" are both back with fresh new episodes; These were the same episode that were pulled from last week due to the sensitivity issues regarding the shooting in Newtown, CT.

"American Dad" was new last night. There was some gun violence, so it probably made sense.

As for "Family Guy", the closest thing was Herod's order to kill the baby Jesus, which was followed by Baby Jesus changing the manger into an aircraft and having a "Star Wars" battle with Herod and his men.

That was an episode worth seeing, though some of the comments about Mary went too far. I'm not Catholic but believe she's entitled to more respect than that. But most of the time I do enjoy their demented sense of humor.

And that was great how the second ghost arrived in Scrooge's bedroom and the first one hadn't gotten to take him out yet.
