It just about makes me sick what they're doing to WBAP.
I cannot believe they would do anything to that guaranteed cash cow.
The problem with cash cows is that, like ordinary cows, they cost way too much to maintain - for example, it is necessary to spend money to feed them and provide them with veterinary care. That's why Cumulus has determined that it can make the feed that it provides to all of its cows, including its cash cows, go much further by mixing in some sawdust. And the pay scale that a typical veterinarian demands - well, that is just way too much. Therefore, Cumulus has made the investment necessary to buy the very best
Do It Your$elf And $ave Veterinary Reference Guide so that one of the part-time hourly farm hands can take over the work that the overpriced veterinarian used to do. Once the cash cow gets used to the taste of the sawdust it won't notice any difference. After all, it's just a stupid cow. What does a stupid cow know?
And, at the same time, they replace Mark Davis with a much less experienced, less talented and less expensive host. Once the WBAP audience gets used to the new host, they won't notice any difference. It will be just like the sawdust in the cattle feed. After all, WBAP listeners are just a bunch of stupid bumpkins who drink the sort of coffee served in truck stops and gas stations and tune in to Rush Limbaugh. So long as the new host throws out enough "red meat" type topics for them to get worked up over, those morons will keep tuning in. What do those stupid hicks know about radio? And, besides, Cumulus can even run spots boasting that it has actually
improved WBAP because they got rid of a tape-delayed national show and replaced it with an evening host from its wonderful ratings success KLIF who is exact same sort of unintelligent boorish rube that Cumulus thinks its listeners are.
Besides, Cumulus has a strategy so that it won't even
need those expensive cash cows. They will tag team with Media Matters' Stalinesque campaign to intimidate advertisers from running spots on programs that they don't approve of. That will knock out the most successful syndicated talk show in radio history that is a major reason why stations such as WBAP are pesky cash cows in the first place. And when that happens, Cumulus will have its own wishy washy (i.e., "non-strident") milquetoast RINO radio program which it can, if necessary, dumb down even more, to take its place. Besides, the host is called "Huckabee".... with a name that sounds like that, how can the bumpkins not go for it?
Those stupid cash cows like WBAP - just because they have higher ratings and revenue they think they are so much better than stations like KLIF. And Mark Davis - he thinks he's better than Ben Fergusson and Chris Krok.
We will show them who's boss in this town!
