Curtis Media's 98.3 Cary translator taken off-air in dispute

From Inside Radio: FCC Sides With Lakes Media In Ongoing Curtis Media Translator Dispute.

W252EL, Curtis Media's translator at 98.3 FM in Cary NC, has been taken off the air under order of the FCC due to interference complaints from WLUS 98.3 in Clarksville VA. The initial complaint was lodged in September, soon after Curtis launched the translator in August. They shut down their W253CY 98.5 translator last year due to complaints from WDWG in Rocky Mount NC, and now the new 98.3 translator is down. Looks like Curtis has had no luck with all of these translators!

W252EL was the main translator for "Triangle's Rock FM" WQDR-AM 570. They still have translators in Durham, Chapel Hill, and Johnston County, and the station is still at 94.7 HD3, but 98.3 was the main frequency for Wake County for Rock FM.

The station's Facebook page has claimed that there are "technical difficulties" with the signal. Maybe 98.3 returns at a lower power in the future? Will they move Rock FM back to 92.9 and take away WPTF's main FM signal?

Good.
The translator situation is out of control. It's obvious they're overlapping contours when, for example, you can listen to 95.7 in Cary and hear That Station but see "WKML" on your radio's display.
