CW picks up three of its new dramas, inks a new streaming deal with Netflix

Two pieces of news involving The CW: First, the network has ordered full seasons of three of its new fall dramas, including Hart of Dixie and Ringer:

Second: Time Warner and CBS Corp. have announced a new billion dollar deal to allow CW shows to be streamed via Netflix, with content being available as early as this weekend:

Meanwhile, they cancel their message boards.

Some of those people have been friends for years and now they lose their hsitory (unless it's archived online somewhere) and have to find a new place to connect.

"TV to talk about", indeed. ::)

A lot of them won't be talking, at least not on Facebook, which is what they're trying to get them to do.

And a lot of them are hoping for the network's demise now more than ever. Some quit watching the network because of the sorry way they were treated; the message boards were run by heavy-handed Nazis, and then the new shows didn't even get boards of their own. Just a sticky general topic on the main forum and a sticky for each episode until the next episode aired. The main forum was overrun with stickies, including those to report site problems and warning about bad behavior.

It seems companies cannot operate official message boards well. Example: Nintendo's gaming forums circa 2007.

I never got into the CW or WB forums at all; there are always better places to talk about shows in detail like where I was (FanForum, LiveJournal, Twitter) that it ever was on the official forums, where it was just all about shipping wars and pre-emption complaints, and outside forums have much better moderators than the official network sites ever will. Also, having to maintain a UBB/BBS system for thousands of dollars a year is more needless than ever when smaller circles can get together on Facebook, LJ, Tumblr and Twitter for pennies and maintain their fandom without having to bump into other shippers looking for a war.

Look at ABC's Daytime forums; the most insufferable place outside of a newspaper comments site to ever have to read through. ABC rightfully gave up any attempt for a forum with The Chew and threw on their social network links instead, because all the soap fans overran it with complaints about the end of AMC and OLTL.

The same with the Facebook Pages too. ABC Family, ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas, and The Chew's own pages. I got so fed up with them damn crybabies I unliked those pages. - Even Paula Deen's Facebook Page. When Paula put out a release on her FB page that she would be appearing on The Chew people turned it into a bash-ABC thing for canceling the soaps. Some even went as far as to tell Paula she had a lot of nerve to be on The Chew since it replaced AMC. Others even said if she didn't cancel her apperance on The Chew, they wouldn't be her fan any more. The same thing happen with The Talk's Facebook Page after they didn't renew Leigh Remini and Holly Robinson Pete's contract.

What did these crybabies do before the days of the internet? ???

I actually enjoy Hart Of Dixie.....the plots are at least 95% believable. I'm not a huge drama
fan, but this show has a lot of comedy in it.

Some are probably wondering where I've been. I moved the home phone to VOIP which is a
lot cheaper. That messed up my internet connection, so I was in the dark for about a week.
