WXDJ is not "tropical". It is nearly all reggaetón and related material, which makes it most comparable to CHR or Churban. So that would consist two more Spanish Tropical formats under the El Zol brand in Florida. Followed by WXDJ and WMFM.
The top songs play about 70 times a week, meaning roughly 2:15 repeats.
This would be a significant decline in the number of spins, compared to the current formats. The most played songs on 97X and Power are getting 97 and 92 spins a week, respectively.70 times a week? 70 TIMES A WEEK?!?!?!
Jesus ****ing christ, no wonder why I sometimes turn off the radio for a bit; because it is so repeat-heavy! I would've been fine if that was significantly cut back so that more songs can be added but 70 times a week? That's too much.
Those domains were not registered by the registrar that SBS uses for their domain registrations. While it is possible they are simply parked there, it is more likely this was a simple case of a squatter.

That is a very normal rotation for a CHR station or for other formats that are based on current hits such as Urban, Regional Mexican, etc.70 times a week? 70 TIMES A WEEK?!?!?!

And going back the the 60's, hugely popular WABC in New York played the #1 song every 90 minutes... that is over 110 spins a week. This would be a significant decline in the number of spins, compared to the current formats. The general thinking is that Hispanics in the US tend to listen to radio for more hours weekly than non-Hispanic whites, so even in CHR formats the repeat plays will be a little bit less than on general market hit-based formats. This would be a significant decline in the number of spins, compared to the current formats. Same is true at country radio. I just checked yesterday's playlist for WWYZ Hartford and, sure enough, "If I Didn't Love You," "Half of My Hometown," "One Mississippi," "Thinking 'Bout You," and a few others are all getting spun every 2 to 2 1/2 hours. And going back the the 60's, hugely popular WABC in New York played the #1 song every 90 minutes... that is over 110 spins a week.
Hit radio, going back to its creation by Todd Storz in 1952 (70 years ago this year!) has always played the "powers" at around two hour rotations.
I heard that CHR stations in the 80s and maybe 90s played their powers about 40-50 times a week. Can you confirm this? And going back the the 60's, hugely popular WABC in New York played the #1 song every 90 minutes... that is over 110 spins a week.

Probably closer to 70-80 in Hartford. WKSS had a very tight playlist in the '80s with few recurrents and little if any gold. Not sure if that carried through to the '90s. I had aged out of CHR by then.I heard that CHR stations in the 80s and maybe 90s played their powers about 40-50 times a week. Can you confirm this?
And people really think that every station back then carries a progressive rock format that plays plenty of deep album cuts.Probably closer to 70-80 in Hartford. Nor in my experience. CHR has always had powers in between 65 and 95 spins a week. And those that had lower spin counts were often explained with dayparting, where in 9 AM to about 3 PM the powers rotated more like a "B" current and a big more recurrent / gold got played.I heard that CHR stations in the 80s and maybe 90s played their powers about 40-50 times a week. "Housewife time"? WBZ in the mid/late '60s before going to chicken rock wouldn't play uptempo songs like "Satisfaction" or "Sock It To Me, Baby" until the kids were out of school, and conversely, would give Al Martino and the Pozo-Seco Singers a rest from 4 p.m. into the evening hours.Nor in my experience.
