Wow, KBFB and KKDA-FM beat KHKS in 18-34. Impressive.

KPLX is third overall yet doesn't appear among the top 5 stations in any of those demographic breakdowns. How is that possible?

And KEGL is#22 😂
Have you listened to it? Not entertaining or compelling programming in the least. Now that we're out of basketball season, and there's been no Mavs PBP in a few weeks, where do they go? The Ticket is doing extremely well in all aspects, but this thing is dropping faster than a duck shot out of the sky.

...or would that be an eagle? It would seem, at this juncture, to be a worse decision than flipping it to Sunny.

Obviously, they are killing it among the 55+ crowd.
Continuity goes a long way with the Luby's crowd. Heritage country music, long time spot on the dial for listening to it. K-Plex (The Wolf) has been spinning some of these titles since, what, the late 70's? Best to make the most of the goodwill while they can.

KPLX flipped to Country in 1980.
And I remember its new emphasis on '80s and '90s country being noted on this board not long ago. But something seems to have changed, at least if its current playlist is any indication. Maybe KPLX found it was attracting too many geezers and has started pushing more contemporary country into the mix only recently. If so, improvement in the money demos probably won't show up for a couple of books.

Last year, as a matter of fact. It dropped all currents and recurrents, and went to an all gold presentation. Currently centered in the 90's through early 2010's, but does reach clear back into the 1980's for some of the biggest artists from that decade, such as Willie Nelson and Alabama. Currently playing Tim McGraw's "My Best Friend" from 1999.

No, remember, we’re not allowed to criticize The Freak. We’re still supposed to give it time according to everyone else on this board

Well, Lover, I just did. It's bad radio, plain and simple.
Be critical, but understand nothing is going to happen to KEGL if they are making budget and turning a profit.

I lived in Dallas in the late 1970s, until mid-1978. My Dad advertised on KPLX when it was easy listening. I recall him telling me they were going country. He said the KPLX account executive said it would happen in a couple of weeks. I believe that would have been mid-1977 to early 1978.

I'm fully aware, Jedi. I'd also be quite interested to see the spreadsheet on it up to this point, and what is being projected in the pipeline.

Correct, but now it's playing "You Proof" and "The Kind of Love We Make" and "She Had Me at Heads Carolina" and "Half of Me." All of these were hits either last year or earlier this year. Not hearing any true currents yet, but that's probably coming. You must admit that KPLX is sounding very different from the way it sounded right after it made the big tweak of 2022.

I've given it a longer listen this evening after your post, CT. You are exactly right. The Wolf has definitely adjusted again. Jason Aldean, Thomas Rhett, Luke Combs, and Jon Pardi all heard in the last hour. This is definitely a recent development.

KLUV #2 in 6+ whilst not being any higher than #9 within 25-54. Is KLUV even too geezer sounding? It doesn't seem so to me, at least not any more than other Classic Hits stations.

On the other hand, Jack hasn't had any higher than a 3 share within 6+, for at least the last six books.
