Dallas Sports Radio Guy Tweeting Racist and Hateful Tweets

Tom, I knew this would eventually come about.

My comment was yes a joke to a friend who is an avid Lakers fan. Even had I said that on the air, it would not be grounds for termination on my behalf.... no where near it. I am no one special and I highly doubt CNN would want to do a story on some nobody like myself and his edgy tweet.

You have a good point though. It could be misunderstood. But once again, no where near as intense as Bacsiks tweet. People fail to realize this would have gotten just as big had I not wrote anything. When I published it, the Ticket in SA was in the mist of writing their own version of the story. The tweet itself caused a major stur well before I published my article. So even had I not written, the Ticket in SA would have blown it up just as much.

Having said that I think I will be moving on from this story. I am not going to be addressing this anywhere... here or any other site. I do not want to keep at it and would like to move on with my life/blog.

I think you should be fired and Kobe should sue you. I don't care if it was an obvious joke to your buddy, it's a terrrrribly offensive remark. If we're gonna clean things up, lets clean em up. You are a hypocrite and should be fired immedietly. The Ticket makes fun of rich folks in HIghland Park, the cowboys in Ft. Worth, the blacks in Oak Cliff, the white trash out in the country, their own GM Dan Bennett, they rail on Cumulus ALL the time. They make fun of EVERYONE. They get away with this sophmoric humor because they get ratings and revenue. Plain and simple.

There were promos airing on the station that made the exact same reference. Shouldn't the heads roll that let those go out?

As a producer for a 2-hour weekday local show, Bacsik likely had nothing to do with those promos. When he tweeted, he was assuming that the promos had set a standard for taunting that had been approved by management, so it must be OK to use on Twitter.

IMO, it's not fair that this ends with him and it's not fair that he was the only one made to apologize. It doesn't fix the problem that led to the cause of his firing. If those promos were consistent with station imaging, then the imaging needs to be examined.

Tom, John, let me tell you both something since you seem to have it in for me.  You want me fired for my tweet?  Who exactly will be doing this "firing"?  Just so you know, I resigned my position with Clear Channel radio back in Jan.  So you rants of getting me fired will fall upon deaf ears.  So yup, I am just an average nobody who has the good ol' freedom of speech on my side with no risk of consequence.  Unlike Mr. Bacsik did.

So in reality, I can tweet all the nasty, horrid, disrespectful, or whatever kind of tweets that I want cause currently I am out of radio.

Oh and John, since you seem to want me unemployed more than anyone I will let you know once another radio company picks me up so you can begin your "FIRE DOMINIQUE" campaign.

I don't want anyone fired regarding ism or hypocrisy. These are part and parcel of human nature.
I want people to use whatever power they respect to rise above such futile squabbling, etc.

Any new technology comes with a zillion strings attached, one of them being "undeniable" evidence of who generates a message.
If you want to talk trash, that's what the bar is for, or in the old days, folks got such matters off their chest on
the good old-fashioned CB radio. There still IS a lot of trash talk on CB. No problem there with
slander, obscenity or lack of context. It's expected.

Hope no one is fired, and everyone grows up and moves on.
I would be happy if Twittter died, as it's pretty much a "worldwide CB teletype system on pagers".

Apparently you missed my sarcasm. I don't care what Bascik tweeted and I don't care what you tweeted. But if YOOOOU make a huge stink about Bascik, then make very offensive remarks 2 days later, you are a hypocrite. Would you ever print or go ont he air with "Kobe is a rapist"???? If you wanna play journalist and link your blog, facebook, myspace, whatever, you need to act like a real journalist and not a hypocrite.

Tell you what John, you search the internet for a quote that I ever referred to myself as a journalist. Then I will call myself a hypocrite all day.

My BLOG is not in the paper edition of the Express News, only the web. Hence... the BLOG part.

Does a basketball game justify a man making public hateful and racist comments?

Absolutely not.

Then 2 days later called Kobe a rapist. VERRRRRRRY professional.
