Dance Radio News (2 new stations? And one PD sliding over)

The mysterious station that's been talked about on the board in the last week is supposed to pop up in Las Vegas at some point. I'm hearing that it's a test as to whether or not the format will work.

There is also some been some sniffing around by a station in Houston. Could this be a format adjustment or a whole new Urban/Dance hybrid? A lot of Urban music has adopted a 4/4 Dance beat lately and some dance records are working on the Rhythmics like Power 96 and KYLD. Sounds like this could be a winner.

I'm also hearing that in Phoenix, Rod Carrillo segues into the consulant spot at Energy which will allow him to focus more of his time on his touring and remix schedule which has been quite hectic lately. APD Beau Duran steps into the PD spot with the sale of the station still looming in the backround. Will the station remain dance? Big Question at this point.

Again, these are just what I'm hearing and not to be taken as truth until your told by someone more knowledgable than myself. ;)

I'd say you're as knowledgeable as it gets. Thanks for keeping us updated on the latest rumor mills, much appreciated.
Would definitely be great to see a Dance station in Vegas. It's quite the party town, and I think the format could work if executed properly. Since the market doesn't have CHR/Pop station (KLUC is as close as it gets) it could even go in the direction of Z-103.5 Toronto, Slam FM Holland, or Party 105 in Long Island as all of these station incorporate some Pop/Rock crossover titles but at the same time are very Dance oriented.
Stations in Vegas most likely to make the flip, based on their current ratings, as well ass being 100,000 watts at around 2000 ft: KRRN 92.7 FM, 102.7 KFRH, and especially KVGS 107.9 Area 108.
As for H-Town, I've already written quite a bit about that market.

2 new Dance stations would be VERY welcomed by all of us here, very much so! I'll keep my fingers crossed.

I just read the story on All Access today (April 28th) about Las Vegas, and already they're hinting "this week" so we'll have to stay tuned to this story.

As for Houston, I wouldn't be surprised if it happens. It is a Dance-friendly radio market.
