17 year old Ayla Brown, daughter of WCVB, Channel 5, reporter Gail Huff, has been selected as one of the 175 hopefuls who are going to Hollywood on Fox's American Idol. The Boston tryouts were actually held back around October. The tryouts start on tomorrow nights (Wednesday) show.
On air, American Idol did show Ayla hugging her parents after being selected. AI identified Gail Huff as a "local television personality" without mentioning her by name or for whom she worked.
On tonite's Fox25 News at Ten, Fox25 profiled and interviewed Ayla. Dad was also interviewed. Gail Huff was not mentioned and nowhere to be seen.
I'm sure Ayla, due to AI contractual obligations, has to speak to Fox25. But you'd think that MAYBE in the spirit of competition (even though it's February sweeps) they would have mentioned something about Mom..."Ayla's mom is Gail Huff, a reporter for WCVB in Boston" or something or other.
Ayla, by the way, will be attending Boston College on a full basketball scholarship. Pretty girl too. Good for her.
