Dave Ramsey, Christian personal finance guru, defies COVID-19 to keep staff at desks

By contrast, he said, staff at Ramsey Solutions would spread Christmas cheer and joy during the holidays — as well as courage, which he said was contagious.
As well as spreading COVID-19. What a freaking moron!

Edit: How do I attribute the above quote to the article linked by gr8oldies? That's where I got it.

Ramsey is a smart guy and certainly knows financial planning but his ultra conservative views tends to make him a divisive figure.

Ironically, the only people I know personally who follow Dave Ramsey (even owning some of his books) are covid deniers.

And it's scary if your employer insists, or otherwise suggests, that you risk your health to keep your job. And this is despite 50 cases in his organization appearing just over the past month.

There are workplace rules, and if an employer forces employees to work in an unsafe workplace, they can be legally liable.

However, the Senate is trying to work language into various bills that would absolve employers of that responsibility.

Several Republican-controlled states have already done so. I'm not aware if Tennessee, where Ramsey is based, is one of them.

It's bizarre to me how so many "public conservatives", for want of a better phrase, have downplayed COVID. Like, for Ramsey, advising his listeners to "stay home when you can, cook your own meals for a while, say your daily prayers, and read my books" would be perfectly on-brand.

I've respected Dave Ramsey's views on personal finance although I don't go along with everything he says. But this puts my view of him in the category with several other Evangelical Christian "leaders" who I've lost respect for because of either being fanatical Trump followers, COVID deniers, or both. But my faith is in God, not them.

Mitch McConnell and TN Governor Lee want to change the legal liability. Back to work, peasants!

It's too bad Ramsey went so far afield. The basic tenets of his personal finance philosophy make sense. But he's gotten increasingly irritating over the last few years.

This stunt was beyond stupid. He might as well say to his listeners that they should live on credit cards.

That's how the state of Tennessee rolls. Totally emphasing "get back to work, $8/hr peasants and we don't care if you die" Meanwhile Dave Ramsey's company rakes in corporate welfare, to the tune of $7 million over the past 5 years.

They don't have a state mandate, but several counties have rules and apparently Ramsey may have broken a local rule:

Williamson County, where Franklin is located, has a mask mandate, Stuckey said — but it only applies to public areas and areas within a business that are open to the public.

Not only that, he plans a large, mask free Christmas party for staff in Nashville.

I sincerely hope the media comes down hard on Ramsey about this. Absolutely reprehensible!

To all reputable journalists: please hit Ramsey where he'll feel it the most--- his wallet. 👿

Unfortunately, many of his followers won't be affected by any negative journalism. And I think some of them are not just listeners, but followers. I don't like saying it, but it just strikes me that way.

Fair point b4, however, some of Ramsey's sponsors could withdraw their $upport. Rightly so I might add. 😉
