I swear I bit my tongue so hard it is a bloody stump.
DGH appeared tonight at a "State of the Industry" forum sponsored by the Los Angeles Radio Television News Association at the USC Annenberg School of J.
Hall said that the biggest challenge facing all news radio stations is not IPods, blogs, Youtube or TV News.
Nope.
"The growth and strength of National Public Radio is the biggest challenge that we face. If you go to San Francisco, which is home to one of the nation's best and successful news-talk stations, ABC's KGO, do you know what the number one radio station is? Not the number one news station, I mean the number one rated radio station in the entire market?
"It's KQED.
"Same story in San Diego, the number one radio station is KPBS. In Portland it's KOPB.
"So the challenge for us in traditional all news radio stations, where the ratings are dropping in New York, Chicago, and elsewhere, is to adapt a little bit more."
Little bloody stump, I tell you.
