When we saw the December ratings, a few folks thought the All-Christmas format had started to slip. In some markets, the station that flips to All-Christmas music saw significant gains. But in other markets it didn't make much of a difference. Comparing December 2023 to 2024, it seemed the previous year saw better Christmas format ratings. But Lance Venta pointed out that Thanksgiving came later in 2024 which likely had an affect.
Now it's Day One of the release of Holiday 2024 ratings. All the secular Christmas stations hit double digit ratings. WLTW NYC, KOST LA, WLIT Chicago, KOIT SF, KDGE Dallas, KODA Houston and WBEB Philadelphia. (No secular station goes All-Christmas in Atlanta.) Is that equal to 2023? We'll have to see the analysis. But double-digits across the board is a sign that its fans are not tired of Christmas music.
In a few suburban markets, two All-Christmas stations finished first and second. That happened on Long Island (#1 WALK-FM and #2 WLTW) and in Middlesex NJ (#1 WLTW and #2 WMGQ).
