Just a suggestion for all your suggestions...
If you haven't yet, read the criteria for induction consideration. Now, you have to be a member in good standing to nominate. (pay your annual $25 dollar annual dues.)
Then, if you have someone to nominate, you have to meet a number of specific criteria (years in broadcasting, years in broadcasting in Dayton, etc.) But, there's one thing few ever seem to get. It's not enough to be on the air the required number of years...it's not enough to have garnered top ratings, or been on the air in the market 25-30 years...or been a kindly station owner...
The person making the nomination must speak to what the nominated individual did for the community off the air. Was he/she an Elder in their church? Did he/she offer a Junior Achievement program at the radio station? Did he/she use their station to raise needed funds for charity in the community? Was he/she on their local Priority Board, etc.
I don't think anyone on the Board at the Hall Of Fame (who decides who goes in), for instance ever questioned that Gene "By Golly" Barry deserved induction (2009). But no one who ever nominated him (until I did) ever came up with verifiable information about what he did off the air in the community. And that has to be part of the equation...or you won't get a nomination through.
There have been many deserving people nominated who don't pass muster for this very reason.
So, if you are a member (or decide to become one), please take my advice and do some research on your nominee and be able to speak to both aspects of your candidate...what they did on air and off the air.
