Deirdre Bolton, who has for the past few years worked as an anchor at Fox Business Network, is joining ABC News as a New York-based business correspondent.

“As an accomplished reporter, Deirdre is adept at translating complex financial concepts into understandable ideas and facts,” said ABC News President James Goldston in a statement Monday. “. She reported on some of the biggest stories over the past two decades,” he added, including the 2018 summit between North Korea and the United States, and the 2015 Paris terrorist attacks. “During the 2007-2008 financial crisis, she provided straightforward explanations of the global financial meltdown daily and ways the audience could find much-needed help,” Goldston added.

Coming soon to ABC News.

Are the smart ones jumping ship?

I think the younger Murdoch's are proving less adept at running the FNC ship well as compared to Ailes. They seem to be cutting back at FBC. She's proven herself to be a capable broadcast journalist and likely got an offer of more money from ABC and took it.

Not sure what the point of Fox Business is. It's become the Lou Dobbs Channel.

The point was to compete with CNBC, that's why they grabbed Maria. I just don't think it ever grabbed enough viewers to be a viable contender in the space.

FBC routinely bests CNBC in the ratings. FBC is a profit generator for Fox.

So, is the content worth watching. CNBC has access to the NYSE floor and deeper intergraton with the markets. FBN is looking in from the outside. FBN is just a mirror of Fox News, mostly opinion shows.

Stuart Varney, Charles Payne, Liz Clayman and Bulls & Bears (hopefully just on hiatus) are all excellent. You don't need to fly a plane through the clouds in order to forecast the weather!

I'll add that CNBC's presentation (outside of Jim Cramer) is a whole lot drier than FBC. I used to enjoy the wknd financial shows on FNC before they got their own channel.

It's the stock market, how much song and dance do you want?

Yes, I think it's wroth watching. During the day they are far more a mirror of the CNBC than FNC. With all training currently being done electronically, the exclusive access CNBC has to the NYSE trading floor, for which they pay a princely sum, is hardly a value added investment. During the trading day, FBC does generally beat CNBC in the ratings and this is when both networks air business and market specific programming and not opinion based shows.
