If there was any good that came from the recent passing of Whitney Houston, and Davie Jones...it was the fact that their deaths channeled the media away from all the Michael Jackson fodder. To me, Jackson was a good singer, a better dancer, but not really King of anything. Over a period of years, Whitney Houston's airplay had shrunk, due to song Deletion by incompetent Consultants sighting..."it no longer tests well". Today's AC declines airplay of anything from the sixties for fear of being viewed as an "Oldies" station. Yet the Deletions +plus Death =equals Airplay Resurrection to shamefully capitalize on the ones who have assumed room temperature. They call them tributes, but only some receive. Yesterday, the Rock world lost Ronnie Montrose, one of the best to ever grind an ax! From his stint in The Edgar Winter Group, to his own bands, Montrose, and Gamma, to his solo career, the truthfully short, and alledged hard to get along with...carved his his own path. With Houston, all the AC's packed their music logs with all of her hits,...only to remove them again...later. With Jones, airplay for any of the hits he sang lead on, as they grab on to the bandwagon, following the Hurse, and the Monkeemobile, in route to the nearest skull orchard. As Gommer would say,...Shame, Shame, Shame!!! Did any Rock station honor Ronnie Montrose? Yes, we can be "Hip"...we can be "With It",...but it's only temporary. I was a fan of all three, but I ask you...Do you see the Hipocrisy?
