depetro is number 1 morning show in Providence on WPRO

I thought the guy was going to take a dive. He seemed to have lost the energy he once had. But I admitted on the Providence board that I was wrong. My opinion didn't seem to affect his ratings at all, which apparently are the best the station has seen in 30 years!

Doesn't the station simulcast on AM & FM? Could be a factor.

Yes I think they moved in to the former sports station's 99'7 freq. I don't think the station has any competition from the mostly syndi' WHJY.

The only real competition in town is from 920 WHJJ. Nothing much is going on there these days.

His ratings are now being questioned. Some diaries from his hometown may have been fixed. Arbitron expects book may "be affected."

From the P.Phoenix:
Clear Channel Radio Providence - the owner of rival radio stations - took notice and alerted Arbitron.
The ratings research firm launched a probe and found that six survey diaries - which are used to determine ratings - had been returned by a “media affiliated household” in the Providence market.
The average household in that market gets about two diaries. And Arbitron relies on the
households to tell them the number of people living at an address.

In a letter to its customers, Arbitron said it plans to release new ratings - that don’t include the six bogus diaries - on Monday. .... More details came out in a letter Clear Channel Vice President Jim Corwin sent to advertisers. Corwin said the six diaries came from a household in East Greenwich.
That’s where DePetro lives.

this has been a topic on the Prov board for a week or so now, and the SaveWRKO website.

Arbitron is restating the ratings, saying 6 diary's were fraudulent.

His numbers are probably going to drop a bit, but if he is tied to the tampering chances are he will not have to worry about his ratings anymore.
