Deranged "fan" of a certain satellite radio assaults reporter with air horn

A deranged "fan" of a certain satellite radio show assaulted WABC-TV reporter Anthony Johnson during a live shot with an air horn. He may have permanent hearing damage. These satellite radio show idiots should be charged with something for inciting this. It is not funny, especially when people get hurt.

deranged is definately the word for it

Was this part of the so-called "Assault On The Media" by fans of Opie and Anthony's XM radio show??

Yes, it was. Anthony Johnson is a friend and former co-worker of mine. I do hope that he will be OK.

O&A need to tell their listeners to cut it out and they need to do so in a pretty emphatic manner. These types of stunts are always stupid, juvenile, and useless and just make them, their show, and XM look bad, but it definitely crosses the line when people start to get hurt.

Forget it. They accomplished their goal whichi is to get publicity and people talking about them.

Like here.

It's amazing what you can do with publicity despite having no discernible talent. Right, Miss Hilton?

What I'm beginning to fear is that someday, some deranged "fan" of Opie and Anthony might actually kill a reporter doing a TV live shot.

The news director of every local television station that does local news should be very worried about Opie and Anthony fans, because the incident that could leave Anthony Johnson's hearing permanently damaged might be only the beginning. Next time, it could be deadly.

We're damned if we do, and we're damned if we don't.

May Mr. Johnson sue those responsible for everything they're worth. Hit them were it really hurts - in the pocket.
Edited by Joe_Capitano on 12/07/05 07:48 PM.

Even Stern has told his fans to cool it with their pranks, although those usually only involve phone calls to the likes of the late Peter Jennings and ABC news, etc. Anyone remember "Ponsta La Phone"? What's Capt. Janks been up to lately?
______________

Well the original poster took pains not to name the two morons who encourage this type of behaviour.
I think if one says those two morons on a certain satellite radio station, one can infer who they are with out mentioning them by name.
The Asbury Park Press article also did not mention the two morons by name.

That's the best comment anyone has made in this thread.

Go for it, Anthony Johnson!!

On a side note, why should they damage some poor reporter's hearing? Maybe somebody could do it to them so THEY can't listen to the morons they're trying to promote!

Anyone else noted a certain commercial that simulates this practice?

Anyone else at least a bit surprised TV stations are accepting this commercial?
