"'Despacito’ Rapper Daddy Yankee Says He Is Retiring to Devote Life to Jesus Christ!"

The Puerto Rican rapper Daddy Yankee has announced he will be retiring from music in order to devote his life to Jesus Christ. Daddy Yankee — whose real name is Ramón Luis Ayala Rodríguez — made the announcement at a concert Sunday in Puerto Rico as well as on social media. “Tonight I recognize and am not ashamed to tell the whole world that Christ lives in me and that I will live for him. This is the end of one chapter and the beginning of a brand new one,” he said.

Watch, he'll be back, just like how he said after 'Legendaddy', he won't make any more music.

It doesn't mean he has to completely give up his music. I'll admit I don't know his music, but he can clean up or stop doing some songs if necessary and do new music based on his faith if it's real and he stays with it.

I'm not familiar with this guy, either, but it sounds like deja vu Little Richard all over again.

Guess the drugs finally wore off.
Many recovery programs are religious. Their method is to exchange the higher power of drug/alcohol addiction for the higher power of God.

Even the A.A. (Alcoholics Anonymous) 12-step program requires belief in God, although they insist that atheists are allowed to follow along, if you just pretend that the word stands for "good orderly direction".

I have known him for several decades, and he's one of the least involved in the purported reggaetonero lifestyle that I know.

He's not the first to leave the Reggaeton music industry to follow Jesus Christ, but definitely the biggest among them. I remember when Hector El Father and Julio Voltio did that a number of years back.

The rapper Mase did the same thing about 20 years ago..."retired" from hip-hop and went into the Christian ministry, patterning himself after prosperity preacher Creflo Dollar. That worked out so well for him that he eventually came back to hip-hop–but only because Sean Combs reminded him that he owed Bad Boy Records one more original studio album.

Mase actually followed a path blazed by Run of Run-DMC, who adopted his "Reverend Run" persona after finding Christianity in the late '80s and becoming an ordained minister.
