Detroit's WDIV-TV morning news anchor Evrod Cassimy tests positive for COVID-19

The coronavirus has hit home at a Detroit TV news team.

Evrod Cassimy, a morning news anchor for Local 4 News (WDIV) has tested positive for COVID-19, the NBC affiliate reported Tuesday night.

According to the station, Cassimy "said he is overwhelmed but is on the mend as he rests at home."

And he reassured viewers that he will be OK.

WDIV is following the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidelines for responding to the situation, according to the story. As a precaution, some of Cassimy's morning colleagues will work from home for the next week. Like other local TV news teams, WDIV's staffers have been using recommended precautions for staying safe and preventing the spread of the coronavirus, including things like increasing the distance between on-air anchors and staying home if possible.

Earlier this week, WDIV news director Kim Voet told the Free Press, "The majority of our newsroom is working remotely now."

Hope for the best.
