Dick Clark Productions Seeks China Sale at $1 Billion Valuation (Exclusive)

Dick Clark Productions Sale to Dalian Wanda is Dead (Exclusive)

Dalian Wanda’s $1 billion purchase of Golden Globes producer Dick Clark Productions is dead, two individuals familiar with the matter told TheWrap.

The deal has fallen apart over problems getting currency out of China — and passing regulatory muster with the Chinese state, the insiders said.

Speculation that Donald Trump’s administration would not approve the deal was not the primary reason for its breakdown, according to both individuals.

DCP owner Eldridge Industries declined to comment on the matter. Representatives for Wanda did not immediately return TheWrap’s request for comment.

Politics should not interfere in business. That's against fair market practices. I'd sue. Money is money, regardless of where it comes from.

Politics DOES interfere with business, and it always has.

The Dubai Ports deal comes to mind.

As global free-trade advocates continue to lose elections, look for it to interfere
with business a whole lot more for the foreseeable future.

The President does business in foreign countries. Just this weekend his sons were in Dubai. I know he says a lot of things that make it sound like he's against global trade. But it's not how he operates.

Having said that, the Justice Department and FTC can't unilaterally reject a deal without citing law. If there is no law passed, the deal should be permitted.
