Dick DiAndrea on WALY THis Morning: Company in Financial Breakdown

Broadcastress said:
Now let me understand your explanation, LittleDickieD. The company is doing fine. The reason that the urinal was not repaired for several weeks is because the company's technical engineer was slow to repair the toilet. And since the company couldn't ....afford ......a .....plumber? But the company is doing fine except maybe Meadeville and State College, and.........Johnstown and ..........Altoona? Interesting. The company is doing so "fine" that they don't want to hire a plumber and they are discounting HoggieFrog all over the place. The current company sales efforts include: let's make a deal. and, we'll trade ya. What do you got? Other than that business is real fine.
Did you cover all the bases that froglegs told you to?

Listen to yourself! You're attempting to do a bit on the blogasphere. Better try again.

Again I will ask, where do you get your info from?

I found out the reason the urinial wasn't fixed in 2 weeks is because Troy (the engineer) had to order a part for the "sloan valve".

I'd hate to think what would happen if Troy were to up and run off. Give that man a raise.

I knew if we tried long enough we could get Dick to respond! But I have a suggestion, Dick...why not be a hero and suggest to management a really cheap and easy way to fix this problem once and for all (or once and forever!). Buy a bottle of Gatorade...drink it them keep the empty bottle on a desk. It has a wide opening, for those who may need it. Next to the desk keep a shovel, in case you need to go that way. And consider this, Forever would be doing its part to save water, energy and would set the example for recycling. You can then sell spots to advertisers who would support this effort! Just think of the promo opportunities!!!
Too bad Bixler isn't around.

If Dickie Boy suggested this and Forever did it, it would give Mr. Croft something to do. Just think, he could be hiding around the corner with binoculars watching to see who failed to cover up the "deposit" with dirt, then he could quickly run to management and report that person. Just think, if he could report enough people, Mr. Croft might be appointed "Director of Shoveling". They might even give him his own office!

I am so excited. Soomeone talking about lil' ole me !!!
Thanks to the poster and all the rsponses, although I may change that after I read them. Only read the mail posting about My toilet problem.
There's a "behind the mike" thing I need to explain. I found out the reason the urinial wasn't fixed in 2 weeks is because Troy (the engineer) had to order a part for the "sloan valve".
As to Forever financially, that really isn't true. They are doing quite well. I get my checks every month on time. I know State College and Meadville could use some management help.
Ironically, I found this site by an old broadcast friend from the 60's, Gil Fryer who worked for Triangle publications (WFBG-AM-FM-TV) while I was there. He was requested to move on after making a remake to "celebrate the 4th (of July) with a 5th". He's now retired in Lake Tahoe. Yup he got canned for that.
Hell I woulda been out of this business in 61 if they heard half the stuff I got away with.
By the way I'm safe till December 23rd at Forever, when my contract ends. They have always left me "do my thing" though with almost no interferance, although Roger has had 3 strokes and 2 heart bypasses over me.
Thanks. Hope I did things right. Is this a real "blog"? Never did this before.

Di Andrea was a SCREAM on radio...and a great guy to work with. One of the more memorable personalities from my own formative years. His energy on radio was exceeded only by his earnestness and good nature.

He could have gone far in the world of corporate group broadcasting...but choose to stay in his home town where he was truly-loved..and still is. Deservedly so.

Keep them gems-a-comin'-there, Dick. Can anything good come out of Altoona? You BET!

Loved?
Could have gone far?

Out of touch. Uninformed.
That is my evaluation of your post.

He is far from loved. And he went further then he should.
Selling advertising to his family and "spinning the wax."
Sorry there Dick, I mean GuyFly.

Sorry to have been a bit tardy on the response on this one. I don't know who the "broad Mistress" is but seems like she wants to work for forever and can't get in. Or was and now isn't. Either way you have a problem with Forever finances, it seems, while they continue to pay off a big building mortgage, nobody has ever missed a paycheck and sales bonus is becoming a regular thing, according to them, and why should they lie about money? I think you are misleading some people on this forum and seems like everyone wonders why. Me I could care less, but the constant berating of a group and shameless speculation leads me to believe you use more venum than brain matter in your dissertation. I'm goin back to Hawaii.
Aloha.

Thanks by the way to "WTAE:
but actually there was nothing at all said to me about the bit by management. They either liked it or don't listen to us anymore.

to DXDXDX
Sorry, but you have to remember my age. A Gatorade bottle may have a wide mouth, nut not nearly as wide as I need. (Damn prostrate). As for the bucket, remember I was talking about a urinal. Never a problem in the morning with the bucket idea.

Bixler? Hell I remember at WVAM one time, Jack Reilly got stuck in the one and only toilet and no one could use it for a day & a half till Ben May Excavators could squeegee him out.

Thanks to "guyfry", couldn't have written it better myself. Seriously I thank you for your comments.

On another matter, being the very next post. [EDIT]

[EDIT-inflammatory]

Yup, I'm the Gil Fryer who joined Di Andrea, Big John Riley, Dick Richards, Al Wolfe and the WFBG-AM-FM-TV bunch in 1962. Those were a couple of the most memorable years of my career. Anybody who remembers the FBG "Show Wagon" knows the kind of crowds Dick Di Andrea brought out to the merchants who paid to bring the Show Wagon there for the day. When it was MY turn to do the
'remote"..people came out to meet the wierdo. We sure had fun! Thanks for the memories, Altoona.

Diandre is an old, old man, well beyond his hey day, what ever that was. His on air presentation is not marketable. Sorry that he hasn't realized that he is late leaving the local stage. His off color comments aren't funny no are they welcome. But since the morning audience has shrunked so much I quess there is no one left to much care. The nose just doesn't know.

Dick DiAndrea is an older man, that's true but he IS one of the best guys to ever take to the air in the Altoona market. Quite frankly, many of us consider him the "Dick Clark" of Altoona radio. Most every market has a handful of radio people who can be put into a local Hall of Fame and in Altoona, Dick is one of those guys, without a doubt.

I'm sorry Broadcaststress if you cannot or will not recognize his status in the market.

Let us hope and pray his talent will far outlive any of us!

Dick,

I am glad to see you posting on here, I grew up listening to you and Roger and you were a lot of fun to listen to when I was living in Central PA.

If you are still with a results driven company like Forever, you must be doing something right.

Pay no attention to the haters who hide behind screen names on here.

Rock on, JR

Hey fryman do you know anything compelling about nevernot radio.
I know their sales people turnover about as fast as your frys.
I know that dandy d is compelling enough that people prefer their xm.
What else is compelling about them?

Thanks jraynar for the kind words, and for fryman, JR is my son. he's not in radio any longer. Was as a kid but wised up and got out. He's worked in Key West Fla, Buffalo and Syracuse New York as GM of Ackerley then Penn, billboard companies, then to Altoona as SM of Morgan Signs, then bought out DiAndrea Media to let me retire, except for the 6/9 WALY show.
To both thanks for the comments.
As for the other post, I have discovered, to my relief who this blank is. And I'm happy to say there's no need to worry that she knows anything "inside" the radio business. She's far removed from it now, and all that's left of is no talent bum, who's is a hateful mistress, and has spewed nothing but hatred from her 60 some posts. Gee wiz was I ever nice, gosh and bedanged and praise the lord and groovy.

I'd like to see Di Andrea buy a little station in the Altoona/Johnstown area. A morning show where he and Broadcastress co-hosted and insulted each other would be visceral ecstacy for people who live vicariously through the melodrama in other's lives.
Laura Mack and her husband could air their own dirty laundry for the "piece-de-resistance". Let bondage, dominance and rampant egoism reign! Puns, satire and put-ons have their place in moring radio. The sicker-the-retter.

I'm glad I'm not in the radio business anymore. Too much feuding and illwill. It seems EVERYONE enjoy a good bag of french fries. The hot sugar waffles seem to be going over also. Especially in the Polish neighborhoods. I'm thinking of adding ice cream next summer if I can find a good used refrigerated vehicle.
